To choose the right leveller The choice of dock leveller is normally based on some basic conditions: Building design, traffic intensity, type of vehicles, bed heights and the handling equipment used for loading and unloading. The design of the loading bays for industrial buildings vary. The Crawford levellers are therefore designed for various installation alternatives. The most common leveller is the electrohydraulic model with hinged lip. Sometimes however, the dock-in facilities are limited, allowing only side loading and unloading of the vehicle. The difficulty to park the vehicle close to the loading ramp creates a wider gap to be bridged by the dock leveller. A leveller with a telescopic lip will eliminate this problem. Electrohydraulic dock levellers are designed for customers whose loading and unloading bays are receiving vehicles of varying sizes and traffic frequency is relatively high. Manual levellers are recommended when the dock is used less often or when electric power is not available.
